Presentation of the AIME project at IRI, Paris - 16 January 2014
Christophe Leclercq, head of the AIME project, will give a presentation of the sit for An Inquiry into Modes of Existence at the l’Institut de Recherche et d’Innovation (IRI) 2013-2014 seminar, “Digital Writing and Editing,” during their session entitled “Annotation: Knowledge in the Margin.”
The session takes place on January 16, 2014 in the Salle Triangle of the Centre Pompidou in Paris from 17h30 until 19h30; and in Montreal from 11h30 to 13h30, at the University of Montreal. Entry is free and requires reservation.

A defining feature of digital media is the convergence of reading and writing into an identical editorial apparatus. Annotation, in all its forms and of all types of media, has thus become a standard writing practice on the web. Being inherently publishable, annotation is a de facto part of the enrichment of content, and in the constitution of knowledge (connaissance).
Since annotation is gradually taking a central place in digital editorial practices, we should ask ourselves if annotation is not becoming a privileged part of intellectual creation by constituting a paradigm shift in practices of writing and the exchange of knowledge (savoir).
